A rare and unusual perennial. In spring and early summer, Symphyandra pendula ‘Fringe Cups’ bears white, bell-shaped flowers, cupped by prominent sepals. The flowers are held very daintily on slender, pendulous stalks just above a low mound of soft, pale green leaves. The blooms are an excellent bee food plant as well as attracting butterflies. Drought and salt tolerant, it suits an alpine trough, or any well-drained position which doesn’t sit wet in winter such as a gravel garden, Mediterranean border or terracotta container.
Although this short-lived plant is often treated as a biennial, it will readily self-seed, providing plenty of new plants for future seasons. Height: 60cm (24in). Spread: 40cm (16in).
Plant height and spread is seasonal therefore we list by pot size rather than a defined plant size. The height and spread of the plant delivered will vary depending on the season, meaning arrival images are an indication only.
