Peony ‘Bartzella’

A simply stunning RHS AGM variety of Paeonia which boasts magnificent lemon scented, frilly, soft yellow flowers in late spring, with a flare of magenta around delicate yellow stamens. The result of a cross between a herbaceous and a Tree Peony, with the added advantage of producing excellent cut-flowers. Peony ‘Bartzella’ is a deciduous shrub with large, leathery green leaves that drop off in autumn. Height: 75cm (29″). Spread: 90cm (35″).

Culinary note: The petals can be added to salads, or cooked slightly and sweetened for a treat. Peony water was also once considered a delicacy and the blooms can be floated in punches. For more details about edible flowers click here.
